On Saturday, October 14th, 2023, Montgomery Creek Ranch was proud to participate in UC Davis Horse Day, a day dedicated to continuing education for horse enthusiasts featuring workshops, demonstrations, and lectures. The event covered a wide range of topics including equine diseases, nutrition, lameness, current research, and reproduction, making it an ideal place for any horse lover to learn and grow.
Lena Haug, a friend and consulting trainer for MCR, presented with adoptable mustang, Moxie, at the event. Lena is an expert in young horse development, mustangs, and teaching humans to better communicate with their equine partners. Lena gave a lecture and taught attendees the process of gentling mustangs. She shared how MCR helps shape the future of young mustangs through our training program and taught attendees how to better communicate with their equine partners in everyday life. Watch some of the segment, below!
Lena's training techniques are based on traditional natural horsemanship, refined by an understanding of the horse's nervous system, mental and emotional biomechanics. She also successfully competed in the Mongol Derby in 2022, the world’s longest and toughest horse race.
Working with wild horses is an extremely challenging experience that is both educational and humbling. Lena's segment showcased Moxie, one of our adoptable mustangs, who made a special appearance. A big thank you to everyone who attended and tuned in to our segment at UC Davis Horse Day.
